Who would enjoy a CSA?
Anybody who loves amazing tasting, fresh, chemical free food will fall in love the produce we grow. Because not everybody is used to eating (and cooking) regular amounts of healthy produce each week, certain people would especially enjoy a CSA. Take the following quiz to see if you are one of them! YES or NO? I love local, fresh, seasonal foods. YES or NO? I’m a creative cook, and I enjoy figuring out how to use food in new ways. YES or NO? It’s important to me to support local farmers and build a vibrant local food system. YES or NO? I want to avoid GMOs and chemicals in my food YES or NO? I like a wide variety of vegetables, including leafy greens, root crops, and everything in between! If you answered YES to most of the statements we think you will love joining the Paradise Produce Farm’s CSA family. A CSA may not be a good fit for you at this time if…. – You/your family have lots of foods they don’t like, have allergies to or simply won’t try – You don’t cook with primarily whole foods – You only have time to open a package and use the microwave – You aren’t comfortable experimenting with or cooking new foods What are your CSA share sizes like?. Large shares are ideal for large families or share splitting -10 items each week, approx. equal to over $44 in produce (which you're getting for only $37/wk with a Multi Season Pass!) Medium shares fit the small family or a "vegan guru" with 6 items each week, over $26 of goodies. Small shares are great for individuals or just getting your veggie toes wet -4 items each week, over $17 to chow down on. Need more than your weekly share allotment? That's okay! Get 15% off any extra produce you buy at the Farm Store when you become a CSA member. Why become a Multi-Season Pass Member? If you'd like to level up not only in produce savings but also in supporting farms, we designed this pass for you. By signing up now for all 27 weeks (summer + fall + holiday box, May-Dec), you help our farm be sustainable year round. Regular members average 10% savings off our retail pricing. Multi-season members save over 15%! We gotta buy seeds, fertilizer, and fix tractors in January. Multi-Season Members are key in providing year round stability. You are as important as the farmer! Plus, you get an extra 10% more savings and swag - just for joining us all year! Where does the produce come from? Us! We believe in local, small farm, sustainable produce. This means we care for our plants ourselves from the seedling to finished product. To better serve our CSA members, we occasionally use natural produce from Nashville organic farms if we cannot provide an item ourselves. This way you will never lack variety and we support other local organic farmers like a true ecosystem! |
Can I choose what goes in my CSA box?
Short answer: Yes! Farm CSA: Our unique model allows you to choose the produce you want to take home in your share. Large shares get to choose 10 items, Medium shares get 6, and Small gets 4. This way if your family hates kale, you can choose something else! You can select anything from our public produce stand and from our Members Only area. The Members Only area offers our CSA family treats like the first of the season tomatoes, watermelon, and items that we aren't offering for public sale. Due to this there may be a quantity max per member just every member can have some. Holiday Box CSA: This Boxed CSA is pre-boxed/farmer's choice, but that doesn't mean you don't have options. We set out a Trade Box each week where you can swap out any items you don't prefer. What if a share is just too big/expensive/often for me? We have lots of members that enjoy a CSA in a variety of ways. We offer payment options on multi-season passes. Or you can ask a friend or family member to split a share with you. You are responsible for meeting or dividing the shares with whomever you are sharing. If you prefer to have a week to week option, we also have a produce stand every Thursday during the summer on the farm. Plus, check out our local farmers markets! Do you offer refunds? No. When you purchase a CSA you are not just buying produce, you are supporting the small family farm system. You make chemical-free, sustainable farming possible. Each penny goes to support our farm and family and in turn is converted to sweat, dirt, and occasionally tears. Then, in our turn, we can support your family with beautiful natural produce. By purchasing a share you are also claiming a spot in our CSA which somebody else wanted. The payment is a nonrefundable security deposit to ensure membership goes to those who really will use it. What do I do if I cannot make the pickup? Farm CSA/Boxed CSA: The best choice would be to have a friend or relative pick up your share for you. Please note that it is not possible to change pickup days or times. Produce is picked on an inflexible schedule for maximum freshness. If you tavel a lot, our produce stand or local markets would be a better fit. Any shares not picked up at the time and location that you sign up for will be donated to charity or put to good use. What kind of produce will we get? Our CSA family is fed by the produce in season on the farm. This means in the spring you may get more things like baby greens and salads, radishes, carrots, onions, and cabbages. Later in the season it will switch to things like corn, watermelon, potatoes, squashes, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more. Can we tour the farm? Yes. Please email and set up a time. Due to the massive amount of work that goes in to producing quality vegetables, some times of year may be easier than others. Our location information is here. |
